A number of outstanding African Americans are being recognized during Black History Month by the California African American Chamber of Commerce for their exemplary service and dedication to economic development. “We stand alongside and on the shoulders of many great individuals—their successes have opened many doors of opportunity,” states Timothy Alan Simon, Esq., and CAACC Board Chairman.  “This is our tribute to them, past and present.”

CAACC will recognize the following luminaries: Shirley N. Weber PhD, Frederick M. Roberts, Augustus F. Hawkins, London Breed, Gwen A. Moore, Willie L. Brown, Jr., Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, Mervyn M. Dymally, W. Byron Rumford, Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett, and Kamala D. Harris.

“These champions are the blueprint for California’s future,” added Carl Davis, Jr., CAACC’s President and CEO.

The California African American Chamber of Commerce strives to empower the State’s Black Chambers which represent more than 10,000 black-owned businesses, employing over 75,000 persons, according to pre-pandemic statistics.
